| I was quite suprised by the first two reviews here for this game, they were both very negative. I found this game a hell of a lot of fun, and kept playing most days until I had finished most of it. The action is very intense and pure, no race is ever boring and there's plenty of game modes and tracks to keep you interested. I'd say the graphics are pretty good considering how much action is going on on the screen at any one time. You can have as many as 16 cars all smashing to pieces before your eyes along with oil slicks and debris, and the framerate remains respectable throughout. The game physics in general is also good. You can get realistic pile ups of cars which drive over bumps in the track / ramps etc. There is one very annoying aspect of the car physics though and that is that you tend to get stuck to cars when you've hit them and are trying to drive away. This does get very frustrating at times, but you can learn to avoid those kinds of situations with a bit of practice. The racing AI is also pretty good for the most part, but occasionally some of the drivers behave really stupidly and just drive into objects without even trying to avoid them. Overall I'd say this was a very good game, not perfect by any means, but well worth a blast. There will be inevitable comparisons with the burnout games, but I personally enjoyed this game a lot more than Burnout 3 even though that is meant to be the 'daddy'. I've not even tried 'live' games with this yet, I'm expecting them to be even more fun. |
