Summary

Everybody knows that Gran Turismo is the most statistic-crunchingly realistic driving game ever made. Simple. What isn't so simple is describing exactly what the awkwardly named GT Concept 2002 Tokyo-Geneva actually is. It's not a sequel, it's not a mission disk, but it is exclusive to Europe. Sort of. There have already been a few GT Concept games released in Japan in the last couple of years, all themed around famous motor shows in Tokyo, Seoul and Geneva. This is a sort of best-of collection of those that, for no readily apparent reason, will not be sold in the US.

GT Concept 2002 has two main goals: to provide a version of Gran Turismo 3 that's easier to get into and play, and to include a whole heap of brand new motors including special concept cars that you normally only see at the aforementioned motor shows. And pleasingly it does exactly this, with the new driving aids being particularly welcome to anyone who has ever had trouble with the game's notoriously sensitive control system.

If you own a PS2 and you're even remotely interested in driving cars very fast around beautiful looking tracks then you simply must own a Gran Turismo game--and this is the perfect place to start. If you're already a fan, though, this is the ideal stopgap until the next full sequel comes along. Which basically works out as a bit of win-win situation, especially at this pleasingly non-rip-off price. --David Jenkins

A dumbed down version of GT3

In a paraphrase this game is like GT3 minus the GT Mode. Therefore technically it shouldn't be called Gran Turismo. Unfortunately the reason we have GTC is for the bridge gap between GT3 and 4. Perhaps this is in the fear that loyal fans would be lost to the other racing giants such as TOCA. I can't help feeling that Sony thought they would just make a game to pass the time until technology permitted the advancements of GT4.
I bought this game in the hope of a new GT series game that would improve over the well attributed GT3 A-spec. However there are many, many downfalls to this title.
*No GT Mode.
*Very Few cars, 50 at the most.
*A limited number of courses to race on.
*No music changes, or 2 player changes.
*Very short to complete. (I think about 5 hours for the average player).

However this game is not a complete failure. And just to be fair to the GT series the game DOES have improved graphics over the previous game. There are several new production cars, and of course the amazing concepts.
Therefore here is my advice when considering purchasing this game. Petrol heads or even a slight GT fan. AVOID. Not worth the pennies. But perhaps a buy for the amateur racer, or those who like to dabble in a bit of light hearted `Arcade style', racing. (But better off with GT3 or 4, really.)
Subsequently, this game gets a poor 3/10 for a lack of content and general disrespect to the title GT.

GT3 Lite

I have been a huge fan of the Gran Turismo series since the very first one and somehow they've managed to improve on the previous version every time they have another crack at it. This however is not the next step in the series, but rather a "what if" of Gran Turismo 3. In this case the question is "what if I had the opportunity to drive those impressive looking concept cars that you see at motorshows and that never see real tarmac".

Unlike GT3 this game is very quick to get going while still retaining the high graphical and audio quality and overall gameplay of GT3. So far so good, there are yet more jaw droppingly fantastic cars to go tearing round the tracks in. (and the pod?!?!? you'll know what I mean when you see it)

Once you get a significant way through the game you are rewarded with additional credits and bronze for all of the licences for your GT3 save. This is very handy if you're just getting started on the original game.

Now comes the one and only problem. There is just not enough of the game so if you're an experienced GT driver this is not really going to stretch you and will be over all to soon. Still fantastic fun though.

Essential for Gran Turismo fans, for those people who aren't yet, I'd recommend getting GT3 first and becoming a fan before getting this one.

Great While It Lasts

I got this game for Christmas last year, it was a great game, I played it all Christmas day, until I finished it. On Christmas day. I've played it all of twice since. For GT fans like me, it is a must, but, if you are new to the GT series, wait for GT4.

Very poor value for money !

I love GT3, so bought this game. The racing, tracks and graphics are just as good as GT3, but I am disappointed that having spent £15 (not that much less than GT3) I have almost completed the game after just a few hours.
You can get 10,000,000 credits to transfer to GT3 by just completing the Concept licenses and normal tracks, so I would recommend this game for anyone who has just started playing GT3 and wants some easy money so they can buy some decent cars, etc.
But I think anyone who hasn't bought GT3 and tries this may be put off buying the real thing.
I love GT3, but value for money means that I can only give this 3 stars.

Excellent, but maybe a little sort lived

Gran Turismo Concept is more of dumbed down version of GT3, in the sense that it has fewer cars, tracks and no Gran Turismo mode. But on the whole it is a fairly decent game. Racers will have the selection of 10 tracks to race on and choice of 100 cars which include the new Ford GT, Volkswagen W12 and the Dodge Viper GTS-R Concept.
However, Gran Turismo veterans will find the challenges pretty easy and may find that there's not enough depth. On the
plus side, novices to series are bound to find this a worthy challenge.
My advice is, if you're a petrol head and dont mind a shorter-depth Gran Turismo, or if you're new to the series then buy this. If you prefer a racing game with a more depth, then look elsewhere.
