Summary

EA Sports FIFA 06 brings the total football experience to your fingertips. It delivers a combination of attacking gameplay, complete customisation, pure authenticity and the deepest manager mode ever.

Intuitive gameplay enables you to command every move of your player with pinpoint accuracy. Passing, shooting and tackling are now more responsive than ever and enable you to trap, shield and dribble like a world-class footballer.

Experience 90 minutes of heart pumping football, feel the team chemistry of your side and the sense of momentum shift as you battle for supremacy on the pitch. As the midfield maestro you`ll control the overarching strategy of the game, dictating the pace and performance of your players as you execute strategic decisions on-the-fly using the tactical play button configurations.

Master the most immersive management mode ever. Sign sponsors, scour the transfer market and buy players to build the perfect squad. Uncover the stars of the future or drop the strugglers and make some extra money. My FIFA now gives you the tools to create a star player and customise every aspect of FIFA 06 to fit your individual playing style and preferences.FIFA 06 delivers the most comprehensive line-up of official, licensed leagues from around the world of football with an unprecedented level of real clubs, kits, stadiums and players. FIFA 06 gives you as much football as you want, whenever you want.

Why do EA feel the need to cream the FIFA cash cow?

If, like me you have played Fifa 2003, you will realise what a stepup this game is - or rather a letdown. The commentry and presentation are fantastic, a cut above the rest, but that does not make the game worthwhile unless the game itself is actually playable.

The game itself is sluggish and the controls unresponsive as you haphazardly kick a pass the direction you DIDNT want it to go. Players seem to have no idea what the hell they are doing, and momentarily freeze in bewilderment.

Referee's are ridiculous for pulling out the ubiquitous cards, as they pull them out once too often for harmless, probably allowable tactics, but seem to dismiss the more dirty tactics.

Dont get me started on the FIFA License, but since you did, I'll tell you. Why on earth do EA feel the need to churn out yet another dismal game little after we just bought our last one, considering it is largely the same excepted a revamped cover and a menu title difference, but underneath the the image, the faults, the graphics are masked in yet another rebadge to cream more money out of the average fan. What a stupid EA, you should be ashamed of yourselves!

Another consistant Fifa game!

Again we have another Fifa game which is fine, however there isn't that many new things. Yes, it is better than previous Fifa games for the PS2 and yes, the manager mode is slightly different, however for it to be a real classic there needs to be some more stuff thrown in, things which haven't been tried before on a football game.

I would stick to Fifa 07 for the PSP, this game does have new things on it. But, this is a very good game, the best Fifa so far (apart from 07) but if you are considering buying it, don't. get the in date version (Fifa 07). 8/10

Good game could of improved

when i first got the game i thought the graphics were good and the animations were to. but i find it annoyingly hard to score with the tricky gameplay but the game authentic as usual and the keppers actually dive properly and when you do score they are usually good goals overall good game

FIFA sinks further into poor gameplay....

I, like many people, enjoy football, and indeed, football games. However, FIFA 06 nearly put me off the genre for life...

Let's start with the good points. There is the obvious factor that draws most people in: The incredible amount of teams, leagues and players. EA deserve a pat on the back for another great database. Also, a good commentary team, as John Motson was beginning to get a little bit irritating beforehand. There are some good extras too, especially the add-on of FIFA 94.

Now for the bad points. The gameplay is horrific. It seems that EA have tried to cut down on the amount of dribbling time a player has. Unfortunately, now you have none. It is literally passing the ball as much as possible, and you still end up having it intercepted. What's more, no matter how many chances you have, the opposition will only need one chance to score, and it's always off the rebound. This was all on semi-pro mode, so I switched to amatuer for a bit. Unbelievably easy. There's no happy medium.

The graphics aren't great either. I don't know what all the hype was about.

In conclusion, you're much better of getting FIFA 07, which has considerably improved on this game.

fifa 2006 thoughts!!

as a big fan of this franchise it is one of the best to date but I would like to see a proper transfer system within the game which is more realistic to the actual premiership/game. The lower divisions though could do with improving the player faces as the upper leagues do so.
Hope to see an improvement on this in the 2007 version
